Resurrection

Entombed for 17 years in a shroud of zeros and ones, somewhere far away in a data plant, breezy fans blowing to keep the whizzing and whirring machines from overheating into oblivion, lay a blog long forgotten by it's owner. A veritable time capsule waiting to be unearthed with the simple tap tap tap of a magic string of letters from a keyboard into a search bar, an enter button pressed, suddenly memories laid bare before the owners eyes, all because of a simple enquiry "Do people even blog anymore?" I recall a time in internet history when blogs might appear as choices on the first page of a google search. Where did the conversation move to? Who's writing long form pieces for their friends and family? Much of the internet conversation has moved to spaces like Reddit, but I'm focusing less on platforms that have endless scrolling baked into their design.

Reading the old posts reminded me of a time when things seemed ... simpler. A world where the algorithm (that damned algorithm) hadn't yet squeezed every last bit of humanity out of us. And I felt a swell of gratitude for having living in that world. And a sudden thought crossed my mind, I could create that world again. A world where I'm not inundated with content, but creating my own. And I'm not creating it for anyone in particular but my own enjoyment and anyone that actually cares to look. So here we are, and the question begs to be asked, is this totally ridiculous posting on a 17 year old blog? Well, my honest answer is, who the hell cares.
